5 Things Your Business Needs to Do to Get Found on Google

Building a site isn't enough to get found on Google. The five steps below are the basic requirements for making your business visible in search results.

1. Set Up Your Google Business Profile and Fill It Out Completely

Business name, address, phone number, category, and opening hours are the core record that gets you shown in map results. The more complete the profile, the more Google trusts it.

2. Keep Your Business Information Identical Everywhere

Make sure your business information is identical everywhere (name-address-phone consistency). If the phone number on your site doesn't match the one on your Google Business Profile or social media, Google reads that as a trust signal problem and pushes your ranking down.

3. Make Sure Your Pages Load Fast

Google uses page speed directly as a ranking factor; a slow-loading site loses both visitors and Google's own crawler. This shows up especially on mobile connections, since most searches happen from a phone.

4. Don't Neglect Mobile-Friendliness

Google now evaluates your site primarily by its mobile version — a site that looks flawless on desktop but falls apart on a phone won't rank as strongly either.

5. Add Real Content Written in Your Own Words

Text copied from other sites or artificially stuffed with keywords is treated as low-value by Google. Pages that describe your business, your experience, and the value you provide to customers in your own words give more value to both visitors and Google.

None of these five steps pay off fully on a site whose foundation is slow or technically incomplete — the fundamentals have to be solid first.
